Developed as a replacement for aluminum by Owens Corning, the Department of Transportation and the Society of Plastic Institute. Fiber Brite is the only plastic sign panel to meet the government’s plastic traffic control sign specifications. Fiber-Brite® is made with a polyester thermosetting resin that hardens and becomes irreversibly set when cured. This procedure allows the material to resist fading, denting, creasing, shattering, warping, rusting and delaminating.

Fiber-Brite® is UV stabilized and unaffected by extreme heat or severe cold. It may be utilized in extreme weather conditions: from desert highways in Arizona to Canada’s ski resorts and everywhere in between.

GOVERNMENT APPROVED

Fiber Brite® is a Fiberglass reinforced Plastic (FRP) that comes with a ten-year warranty.

FRP is the only plastic to pass a series of laboratory and field tests to meet government plastic sign panel requirements for traffic and street sign usage. Fiber Brite® plastic is more compatible with plastic reflective sheeting than aluminum, which has to be treated with an alodine coating to help adhere to the sheeting.

Fiber Brite® signs last longer, roads stay safer and signs are replaced less frequently.

VANDAL RESISTANT

Fiber Brite® offers no scrap value to thieves. It’s unique polyester composition allows the sign to flex under extreme pressure and then rebound back to shape. The fiberglass in the panel provides a pound-for-pound strength greater than steel, because most chemicals do not affect the panel, and graffiti washes off.

The color is impregnated into the entire panel so a scratch or a chip will not affect the overall visibility and the need for expensive background sheeting is eliminated.

SUBSTRATE REPLACEMENT

Fiber Brite® is available in different sizes and thicknesses to be used under every condition and for practically any task.

Fiber Brite® replaces up to 1” thick wood and aluminum laminates at a lower cost. The panel may be used in place of labor-intensive MDO without painting, priming or sealing. It’s a great substitute for 0.30 – 0.100 gauge aluminum and 3mm – 10mm PVC without the outdoor performance failures. lt’s the substrate of choice around water, chemicals and electricity or where outdoor durability is important.
